SUBSTANTIVE kEY CONCEPTS
In invasion games, the aim is to invade an opponent's territory and score a goal or point.
Fundamental movement focuses on a specific set of gross motor skills that involve different body parts. These skills are the building blocks for more complex skills that children will learn throughout their lives.
In net and wall games, players send an object over a net or against a wall so that it lands in an area that an opponent is defending.
In striking and fielding games, players score points by striking an object and running to designated playing areas or prevent opponents from scoring by retrieving the object and returning it to stop the play.
In target games, players send an object towards a target area. Sometimes this may also involve avoiding obstacles, defending, guarding, or blocking the path of the opposition's ball to stop them from scoring.
Track and field games include athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The name is derived from where the sport takes place, a running track and a grass field for the throwing and some of the jumping events.

The physical concept focuses on overall movement through control, balance, coordination, agility, flexibility and strength.
The psychological concept focuses on decision making and self awareness within a game and evaluation and reflection of one’s performance.
The social concept focuses on communication and collaboration within a game with teamwork and sportsmanship as secondary concepts.
The technical concept focuses on attacking and defending positions, possession and tactics.
